YouTube not working – Fixes for PC

Leads, Leads, Leads!

1 – update Chrome

If you can’t watch YouTube videos in Chrome, try updating the browser. It’s an easy task to accomplish, all you need to do is click on the icon (three vertical dots) in the upper right corner, select “Help” and choose “About Google Chrome”. A dedicated page will open and if there is an update available, just click Install and follow the instructions.
Step by step instructions:

Step 1: Click on the icon (three vertical dots) in the upper right corner of the browser.
Step 2: Select “Help” and choose “About Google Chrome”.
Step 3: Click “Install” and follow the instructions if an update is available.

2 –  Check your Internet connection

Just like with the Android version described above, your internet connection may be the root of the problem. Try performing a Google search or visit a random website to see if it loads. If not, take a look at your connection settings to make sure everything is okay. You can also reset the router or call your ISP if that doesn’t help. However, if the connection is established, the search for the correct fix continues.
Step by step instructions:

Step 1: Visit a random website to check if you are connected to the internet.
Step 2: Connect to the Internet if you are not already.
Step 3: Reset the router if you have any problems.

 3 – Enable JavaScript

JavaScript must be enabled in order to view YouTube videos. To check if it’s enabled, go to Chrome settings, click “Advanced” at the bottom, then select “Content settings” under “Privacy and security”. After that, just click on the “JavaScript” option and enable “Allowed (recommended)”.

Once done, go back to the YouTube video you want to watch and refresh the page to see if you’ve fixed the issue.
Step by step instructions:

Step 1: Click on the icon (three vertical dots) in the upper right corner of the browser and select “Settings”.
Step 2: Click “Advanced” at the bottom and select “Content Settings” under “Privacy & Security”.
Step 3: Click on the “JavaScript” option and enable “Allowed (Recommended)”.

4 – check extensions

There are a number of useful Chrome extensions, but some of them can do more harm than good. To find out if any of these are responsible for your YouTube-related problems, try playing a video in incognito mode.

Extensions do not work in incognito mode. So if you are able to watch any video, figure out which one you installed around the same time as the problem and delete it. You can do this by clicking the icon (three vertical dots) in the upper right corner, selecting “More Tools”, and clicking “Extensions”. This will bring up a page where you can disable or uninstall any extensions you are using.
Step by step instructions:

Step 1: Click on the icon (three vertical dots) in the upper right corner of the browser.
Step 2: Click on “More Tools” then on “Extensions”.
Step 3: Disable / remove extensions to see if that fixes the issue.

5 – Clear cache and cookies

If you can watch YouTube videos in incognito mode, but can’t get them to work in the standard version of Chrome, even with all extensions disabled, clearing cache and cookies is the way to go.

Click on the icon (three vertical dots) in the upper right corner of the browser, choose “More tools”, then select “Clear browsing data”. Choose the option “from the first hour” in the drop-down menu, and erase the data by clicking on the dedicated button.
Step by step instructions:

Step 1: Click on the icon (three vertical dots) in the upper right corner of the browser.
Step 2: Click on “More tools” and then on “Clear browsing data”.
Step 3: Choose the option “from the first hour” and click on “Clear browsing data”.

YouTube not working – Fixes for Android

Fixes for Android devices

1- restart your device

Many smartphone issues have been

fixed by restarting a device. This, among other things, closes apps running in the background, which may be the cause of the problems you are having.

It’s a quick and easy solution that only takes about a minute. If you find that YouTube is not working, just press and hold the power button on your device, then tap the restart option that appears on the screen. After the smartphone is turned back on, open the YouTube app and check if the problem has been resolved.
Step by step instructions:

Step 1 – Press and hold the power button on your device.
Step 2- Tap the restart option that appears on the screen.
Step 3- Try to play a YouTube video after the device turns on again.

2- Check your Internet connection

The reason the videos are not showing on YouTube may be due to connection issues. If you can’t see YouTube running, the first thing to do is to check whether or not you’re connected to the internet by opening the settings menu – Wi-Fi or Cellular.

If you are not logged in, you have just found the problem. But if you’re signed in, try Google something to see if you actually have internet access. In some cases you may be connected to a Wi-Fi network, but there is still no internet access for various reasons – problems with the router, the work is being done on the network

In the event that you can search on Google and perform other internet related tasks except visiting YouTube, the connection is not to blame.
Step by step instructions:

Step 1- Open your device’s settings menu.
Step 2- Connect to a Wi-Fi network or your carrier’s network – if you haven’t already.
Step 3- Open the YouTube app and try to play a video.

3- update the operating system

There is a chance, albeit a small one, that if you find that YouTube is not working, it could be caused by a dated version of Android. Open the settings menu on your device, select “System Updates” and download the update if available. Keep in mind that depending on your device, “System updates” may be found under “About phone” in the settings menu.

Once you have downloaded the update, press the Install button and let the device restart. Then just open YouTube and check if the problem persists.
Step by step instructions:

Step 1- Open your device’s settings menu.
Step 2- Find and tap on “System updates” – maybe in the “About phone” folder.
Step 3- Download and install the update if available.

4- Clear cache and application data

The next fix in this list is to delete cache and data from YouTube. The first removes temporary data, while the second removes all application data, including various settings.

Open the settings menu on your device, tap “Applications” and select YouTube. The next step is to choose “Storage”, which will bring up two options: Clear data and Clear cache. First clear the cache and see if YouTube is now working as it should. If not, go back and erase the data to see if that fixes the problem.
Step by step instructions:

Step 1- Open your device’s settings menu.
Step 2- Tap “Applications” and select YouTube.
Step 3- Choose “Storage” option and press “Clear data / Clear cache”.

5- Check your date and time settings

Although it sounds weird, the date and time settings can be the root cause of your YouTube issues. Google’s servers may have trouble syncing with them if you don’t set them correctly.

To resolve this issue, head to your device’s settings, tap “Date and time”, and make sure the “Automatic date and time” option is turned on. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, continue to the next solution in this list.
Step by step instructions:

Step 1- Open your device’s settings menu.
Step 2- Tap “Date & Time”.
Step 3- Activate the option “Automatic date and time”.

6- Update the YouTube application

The last thing you can try if you can’t see YouTube working is to update the YouTube app on your device. To check if an update is available, open the Google Play Store app, select “My apps & games” from the menu and check if YouTube is in the “Updates” list.

If so, just press the “Update” button and wait a minute to complete the process. Once done, launch the YouTube app to check if everything is as it should now.
Step by step instructions:

Step 1- Open the Google Play Store app.
Step 2- Tap “My apps & games”.
Step 3- Tap the “Update” button next to the YouTube app if an update is available.
